When I was
building a home based house cleaning business and working part time at
night as an Actor/Waiter at the Mystery Cafe in San Diego California, I
had a unique experience. I had cleaned five houses that day and hadn't
had time to eat before rushing off to the show. I was famished. Late
in the entree break of the show, I approached a skinny guys table and
saw that he hadn't finished his meal. It took a while to get his
attention, so I stood there and admired his plate of food. When he
finally turned to me I said (pointing at his plate), "Are you going to
finish that?"
He looked
at my face to see if I was joking. I really was not at that moment.
Then, he looked down at my fat belly which was just below his face.
After that he looked back into my face as if to say, "You've got to be
kidding, you ate too much already", and then he burst out laughing. As a
comic, a light bulb went off in my head. Skinny people think that fat
people shouldn't be hungry because they already ate too much. Ha ha
skinny people, the trade off is that I get to enjoy eating and you
don't. I also get to live life in the Large. It gives me a big
personality, and like the good Viking Stock I come from, I am built to
Heroic Proportions.
Vikings
prided themselves on gluttony and drinking to excess. They were also
very big and mean. But they enjoyed a good meal and strong drink.
They could have taken over all of Europe but they just basically wanted
to bash people over their heads, take their valuable stuff and go
home.

When
I was in High School I realized that if I ate good and lifted weights I
would get huge. I never had trouble gaining weight. Not everyone has
that, and I try to explain to my big boned daughters that they are cut
from heroic proportions and they should embrace it.

But alas, I digress.

Now fast
forward about a couple of decades. I had an experience with my parents
just before my Dad died. He was driving around looking for a Golden
Corral. He kept rolling down his window and asking skinny people where
the Golden Corral was. I said, "Dad, don't ask the skinny people where
the good food is. Ask that Fat Guy over there. He'll know." Sure
enough he knew right where it was, how to get the best parking and what
time they start cooking steak.
My point
is this. You know you can always trust a Hungry Fat Guy to tell you
where to get your grub on. And I know you skinny people thinks it's
funny, but I can smell a good hot Gyro on fresh baked pita bread from
two blocks away. I ALWAYS know where the good eats are no matter what
town I'm in.

Right now I live in Apopka, Florida.
It's beautiful to be sure, and rural. Lot's of beautiful lakes,
springs, cattle ranches, horse farms and indoor foliage greenhouses.

This town
has a reputation for not having anywhere to eat. It's because for the
last 50 years they've had the same Mayor and a prohibition against
selling alcohol. Well, most people want to have a drink with their
meal, so their are only a few restaurants ever made a go of it here in
our town. We need to change that, and the Hungry Fat Guy is working on
that. Not to worry, The Hungry Fat Guy is on the case.

In Apopka,
you kind of have to be proactive in finding good places to eat out.
Good eating establishments are out there, but somewhat scarce. Within
convenient striking distance, but sometimes they are hard to find and
tucked out of the way. Hungry Fat Guy to the rescue!! Let me tell you
where all you can get an excellent meal if you live in Apopka, Florida.
